Paraphrase là gì? Bật mí cách paraphrase
Trong bài viết này, IELTS Complete sẽ bật mí cách paraphrase cho bạn về từ vựng Writing Task 1. Paraphrase là một kỹ thuật quan trọng trong phần thi Writing Task 1. Bằng việc sử dụng những từ hoặc cụm từ khác nhau để diễn đạt lại ý nghĩa của một câu hoặc một đoạn văn, nhưng vẫn giữ nguyên nội dung ban đầu. Việc thành thạo kỹ thuật này sẽ giúp bạn cải thiện đáng kể điểm số trong Writing Task 1.
Các cách paraphrase một số cụm từ/ từ vựng thường gặp trong IELTS Writing Task 1
1. Paraphrase về tuổi và nhóm tuổi
- Individuals between the ages of 20 and 29 have a higher tendency to go overseas compared to those in their 50s.
- The study shows that children aged 6 to 12 spend an average of 2 hours a day watching TV.
- People in their twenties are more likely to travel abroad than those in their fifties.
Các lưu ý khác:
- elders = old people
- youngsters = the young = young people
- adult (người lớn – từ 18 tuổi trở lên)
- Millennials =. Generation Y (nhóm người sinh từ khoảng năm 1981 đến 1996)
2. Paraphrase về giới tính
Male và female vừa là danh từ đếm được, vừa là tính từ, chỉ nên dùng cho người lớn. Nếu đối tượng đề bài là children, hoặc người dưới 18 tuổi thì nên dùng boys and girls để thay thế. Ví dụ:
- Men are more likely to participate in high-risk sports than women.
- Boys are more likely to be interested in science and technology than girls.
- Girls perform better than boys in reading assessments.
3. Paraphrase về thời gian
- every year → each year = per year = yearly = annually = on an annual basis
- every day → each day = per day = daily = on a daily basis
- every week → each week = per week = weekly = on a weekly basis
- 30 minutes = half an hour
- 3 months = a quarter
4. Paraphrase về quốc gia, người
- Nhớ học cách gọi tên công dân ở các quốc gia. Ví dụ, “người Việt Nam” là “Vietnameses“, “người Mỹ” là “Americans“, còn “người Tây Ban Nha” lại “The Spanish/Spanish people“.
Ví dụ: Vietnameses are known for their hospitality
- Đừng quên dùng “the” trước 1 số nước như “the UK“, “the USA“,…
5. Paraphrase lượng chi tiêu
- The company’s advertising expenses amounted to $10,000 in the previous month.
- The government spent $5 million for the new project.
- The overall spending on the renovation project came to $50,000
6. Paraphrase doanh thu
- The sales department achieved a total revenue of $2.5 million in the last quarter.
- The restaurant’s sales totaled $10,000 yesterday.
- The amount of the online store $50,000 yesterday.
7. Paraphrase sự tiêu thụ & sản xuất
- The consumption of energy has decreased due to conservation efforts = the amount of energy consumed
- The factory produced 1,000 units of the product last week = The production output of the factory was 1,000 units for the previous week.
8. Paraphrase người dùng/ người sử dụng
- The percentage of people who use public transportation to commute to work is low = The percentage of public transportation users for their daily commute is low
Trong từng trường hợp, chúng ta sẽ có những cụm từ riêng để diễn dạt, ví dụ:
- Internet users = people who have access to the Internet (người được tiếp cận tới mạng)
- People going to school = people who have access to education (người được tiếp cận tới giáo dục, được đi học)
- Car users = people going by car = people driving to work
