Bộ từ vựng IELTS Writing Task 1 cần nắm

IELTS Writing Task 1 yêu cầu đơn giản hơn so với Task 2 nhưng đừng chủ quan bạn nhé. Để ghi điểm trọn vẹn Task 1 đòi hỏi bạn cần nắm thật chắc về từng dạng bài, cách làm bài, cũng như phải “nằm lòng” bộ từ vựng. 1. Từ vựng dạng bài miêu tả biểu đồ Task 1

Miêu tả xu hướng thay đổi

Increase: tăng lên, tăng thêm
Decrease: giảm đi, giảm xuống
Rise: tăng, tăng trưởng
Fall: giảm, suy giảm
Peak: đạt đỉnh, đỉnh điểm
Reach a high/low point: đạt đến điểm cao/thấp nhất
Fluctuate: dao động, biến đổi
Remain stable: duy trì ổn định
Plateau: bền định, đạt đến trạng thái ổn định
Slight/moderate/substantial increase/decrease: tăng/giảm nhẹ/nhẹ nhàng/mạnh

Ngoài ra, bạn cần phải sử dụng các cấu trúc ngữ pháp phù hợp để mô tả xu hướng thay đổi, ví dụ như:

The figure/percentage/number rose/increased by…: con số/ tỷ lệ/ số liệu tăng lên bởi…
There was a sharp/gradual/slight/moderate decline/fall in…: có sự suy giảm/ giảm dần/ giảm nhẹ/ giảm mạnh trong…
The trend/pattern was upward/downward/stable: xu hướng/ mô hình là tăng/giảm ổn định.

Miêu tả tốc độ thay đổi

Rapid: nhanh chóng, đột ngột
Steep: dốc, thẳng đứng, đứng đầu
Dramatic: đầy ấn tượng, đột phá
Substantial: đáng kể, lớn
Gradual: từ từ, chậm, dần dần

Ví dụ:

The number of visitors to the museum increased rapidly from 100,000 in 2010 to 500,000 in 2015.
The price of oil fell steeply from $100 per barrel in 2014 to $30 per barrel in 2016.
There was a dramatic increase in the number of people using smartphones in the past decade.
The company reported a substantial rise in profits this year compared to the previous year.

2. Từ vựng dạng bài miêu tả bản đồ (Map)

Miêu tả sự xuất hiện

Appear: xuất hiện, hiển thị
Emerge: nổi lên, hiện ra
Develop: phát triển, mọc lên
Spring up: nảy lên, mọc lên đột ngột
Arise: xuất hiện, nảy sinh

Ví dụ:

A new residential area has appeared on the outskirts of the city.
Several new businesses have emerged in the downtown area in recent years.
The city has developed a new park system that includes hiking trails and picnic areas.
A number of new high-rise buildings have sprung up in the financial district.
New opportunities for tourism have arisen due to the construction of a new airport.

Miêu tả sự biến mất

Disappear: biến mất, mất tích
Vanish: biến mất, tan biến
Demolish: phá hủy, đập bỏ
Remove: loại bỏ, xóa bỏ
Eradicate: tiêu diệt, xoá sạch

Ví dụ:

The small village that once existed in this area has disappeared over time, and now there are only a few ruins remaining.
The old stadium was removed to make room for a new shopping center, which has now become a popular attraction in the city.
The large forest that once covered this area has been eradicated due to deforestation and urbanization, and now there are only a few scattered trees left.

Miêu tả phương hướng

North: phía Bắc
South: phía Nam
East: phía Đông
West: phía Tây
Northeast: phía Đông Bắc
Northwest: phía Tây Bắc
Southeast: phía Đông Nam
Southwest: phía Tây Nam
Above: phía trên
Below: phía dưới

Ví dụ:

The main entrance to the university is located on the west side of the campus.
The river runs from north to south, dividing the city into two parts.
The shopping mall is located in the southeast corner of the intersection.

3. Bộ từ vựng IELTS Writing task 1 dạng bài miêu tả quy trình (Process)

Miêu tả các bước trong quy trình

Firstly/First: Đầu tiên
Next: Tiếp theo
Then: Sau đó
After that: Sau đó
Subsequently: Kế tiếp
Finally/Last: Cuối cùng
In the beginning: Ở đầu
At the end: Ở cuối
At this stage: Ở giai đoạn này
In the next step: Trong bước tiếp theo

Ví dụ:

Firstly, the dough is prepared by mixing flour, water, and yeast.
Next, the dough is kneaded and left to rise for an hour.
Then, it is shaped into loaves and baked in the oven for 30 minutes.
At this stage, the software is tested for bugs and glitches.
In the next step, the issues that are identified are fixed by the developers.
Finally, the software is released to the public for use.

Miêu tả chu kỳ hoặc sự lặp lại

Continues indefinitely: Tiếp tục vô thời hạn
The cycle then repeats itself: Chu trình đang lặp lại

Ví dụ:

Repeat this cycle slowly, gradually increasing the pace as you flex your spine backward and forwards.
Such speed could not continueindefinitely without triggering side effects, but higherinflation.
